Tales on Tuesdays begins its fall session on September 19th with two times: 1 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Story time is geared to 3 to 5 year olds, but listeners of all ages are welcome.

2018 Library Budget

In accordance with the requirements of Louisiana Revised Statute 39:1310 the St. Bernard Parish Library Board of Control will hold a public hearing to review the fiscal year 2018 proposed budget at an open meeting on October 16, 2017, 6 pm at the St. Bernard Parish Library, 2600 Palmisano Blvd., Chalmette, LA 70043.

The Library Board invites the public to review the proposed amended budget and will entertain suggestions and comments at the public hearing.

Make it the best school year yet with Homework Louisiana!

As students head back to the classroom, make sure you know about Homework Louisiana — a great free resource available with your library card! Visit Homework Louisiana to get free one-on-one tutoring, whether you are in kindergarten or college.

Live tutors are available Sunday through Thursday from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. and can help students of all ages. There is also help available for adults through the Adult Education and Career Center on Sunday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Students can access one-on-one help through the website: http://www.homeworkla.org/. You can also download the Tutor.com to go app for iOS (iPad, iPhone) and Android and get homework help on your smartphone or tablet.
Students get more features on the site if you sign up with a username and password. There is a quiz assessment section that lets you practice skills for math, science, and language arts.

Also, registered users can get detailed feedback for writing assignments such as essays and resumes in 24 hours. You can also keep a list of your favorite tutors.

Even when live tutors are not available, students can still access the SkillsCenter Resource Library. The Resource Library contains information on studying, test preparation, and careers through a variety of worksheets, lessons, and videos.

Want to enrich your mind but have limited time on your hands? How about listening to course material on your handheld or car's MP3 player during your off time? The library now has 385 Great Courses available for you to listen and educate yourself on various subjects in business, science, religion, history and more! Grade-school children will love our newest eBook addition to the library. World Book eBooks provide you with many new resources for your next book report. Viewable on a computer or a tablet, these books are filled with eye-catching photography to help students learn subject matter.
